I wanted to share this simple first impulse I created, of the analog 4x12’’ cabinet simulation of the Behringer Ultra-G direct box (“designed by J.Rath”). Some people out there claims this unit provides one of best simulations (I still have not played with it enough but seems good so far). The response was recorded at 32bit through an ESI Waveterminal 192X, Cubase SX and using Voxengo Deconvolver demo (48s sine sweep) mainly to test it through the new Voxengo Boogex plugin. Regards, Héctor. |

I wanted to make sure that these things were easy to use and sounded great. There are 16 impulses in all 8 each from the Eden and the Ampeg. I cloned a direct bass track 16 times in SONAR and applied each impulse to these tracks and could mix and match as I wanted without phase headaches.
To give you a heads up there are 3 close mics and one distant mic. The close mics are Sennheiser e602, Audix D6, Shure SM-57 and the distant mic is an AT 4033. The preamps aren't anything to write home about; just the pre's on my MixWiz and an Aphex107. |

These are impulses of guitar and one bass speaker cab:
1. SWR bass cab with 15" bass speaker
2. 15" guitar speaker from Peavey Delta Blues amp
3. EV 12L in a ported closed back cab ,
4. 10" Jensen from a Behringer open back analog modelling amp
5. 12" speaker from a Boogie Studio .22 - open back cab.
I used two different mics (Sennheiser 441 and AudioTechnica 4050) and a
couple of different mic positions per combination. The cabs were driven by
a clean tube power amp (mostly) or by going into the effects return of an amp.
Regards,
Phil |

For the 4x12's I used one with Electro voice speakers and one with celestion vintage 30 speakers. For the 4x10's a regular peavy 4x10 bass cab The mics were PAINSTAKINGLY phased to my usual setup then run thru a pair of focusrite red 8's |

To capture these impulses, I used a very good recording chain for guitars (Great River ME1NV preamp/SM57/RME converters). The Great River preamp is roughly based on the Neve 1073.
The speakers that I have are:
1. Fender Pro Jr. 10" Alnico open back (this is a very nice speaker)
2. Princeton II 12" open back (some kind of Eminence, Fendery)
3. Mesa Nomad 55 12" open back (custom Celestion)
4. Celestion Sidewinder speaker in custom 12" closed back (out of production, I think. Some people like them with Marshalls)
5. Line 6 Vetta speaker in custom 12" closed back (custom Celestion, pretty flat)
